Mood Disorders
Bipolar Disorder | Depression | Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD)
Mood disorders are a group of mental health conditions that cause a disturbance in an individual’s emotional state or mood. They include conditions such as bipolar disorder, depression, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Each condition is characterised by its impacts on someone’s moods, emotional state, and behaviours.
These kinds of disorders entail long periods of severe sadness, extreme elation and/or both, and may involve emotions such as anger, irritability, and others. Changes in emotions, moods, and behaviours are a normal part of life, however, if an individual is experiencing symptoms for a prolonged period of time, such as over two weeks, and their day-to-day life is being impacted, it might be best to talk with a healthcare professional.
