SCHOOL TALK INFORMATION

Thank you for expressing interest in having Voices of Hope attend and deliver a school talk. We greatly appreciate your commitment to mental health education and support. To ensure a successful event, we have prepared the following information and guidelines for your reference:

Talk Details
The school talk session lasts approximately 30 minutes. Both Jazz and Gen, representatives from Voices of Hope, will attend the event. Jazz will speak for approximately 20 minutes, focusing on topics such as bullying, general mental health, and the importance of seeking help. We are happy to tailor these topics to the school's request. Jazz will also share her personal story, ensuring that it remains appropriate for the audience. Gen will spend the remaining 10 minutes discussing the mission of Voices of Hope, her own journey, and the significance of lived experience storytelling.

Photo opportunities and Q&A
For safety reasons, we don't hold Q&A sessions. Regarding photo opportunities, we request group photos, either with classrooms or year groups, to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to participate and that it is fair for all.

Safety and Assurance:
We prioritise the safety and well-being of students during our talks, and therefore, we ensure that appropriate measures are taken. Both Jazz and Gen have extensive experience in delivering school talks and are mindful of discussing sensitive topics responsibly. In the past, local suicide prevention coordinators have attended our talks, providing an additional layer of assurance.

Logistics and Expenses:
Please note the following logistical considerations:
1. Travel Expenses In some circumstances, we may require reimbursement for travel expenses. We will discuss this further once the event details are confirmed.
2. Talk Fees The school talk itself is free of charge. However, any donations towards Voices of Hope's ongoing initiatives are greatly appreciated.

Request Form:
To streamline the process, we have prepared a request form that interested schools need to fill out. The form captures essential information necessary for us to assess and confirm our availability for the speaking event. Please find the request form attached. Kindly ensure that all sections are completed accurately.

Event Confirmation:
It's important to note that we may not have the capacity to accept every speaking event request due to our commitments and limited availability. We will review your request form and assess our availability accordingly. Should you have any further inquiries or require additional information, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

Their visit uplifted and inspired so many, we are so grateful to you Voices of Hope!” -  WAIKATO DIOCESAN SCHOOL FOR GIRLS

“It was a privilege to have Voices of Hope visit our kura and for Gen and Jazz to speak to our students. They enjoyed hearing Jazz' story and the gems of wisdom that she shared. I have never seen the students so excited and enthusiastic in welcoming a guest speaker before! It was a timely reminder for students about the help that is available and the exciting possibilities that the future can hold if you just ask for the support you need.
