Exam Season

It’s exam season. And with that, there is a lot of stress and a lot of studying. Don’t overdo it and don’t be hard on yourself. The grades you get don’t define you as a person or mean you’re any less smart than others. It doesn’t define what you can and will achieve.

I know for me personally, I wasn’t one to get good grades. I spent years comparing myself to my younger brothers and other people in my year level. I thought I wouldn’t be able to get anywhere in life and that I was dumb. But you know what? I’ve had many challenges to face alongside my schoolwork and you do too. It can make getting good grades harder. It doesn’t mean you or I are dumber or that we are less than others.

I dropped out of school shortly before my last year was due to finish. I wasn’t mentally well enough for school. I didn’t like leaving. I thought it meant I had failed, and I wondered what people would think. I found it hard, and it doesn’t help to have brothers that remind me of how I dropped out and they didn’t/haven’t. Yes, I dropped out but no, it didn’t mean I was/am a failure. And it doesn’t mean you are either. I just had more challenges like you and because of that, it was better if I didn’t complete school. But let me tell you something, I have still had so many amazing opportunities since I left. There’s heaps I’m still able to do.

So, it doesn’t matter what grade you get and if you don’t complete school. You are not a failure! You are not dumb! You are still worth just as much as anyone else! It doesn’t define who you are. You can still have so many amazing opportunities!

I want you to remember that.

Because you are an amazing human being.

Keep fighting.

You got this.
