Reflecting and Healing from Trauma

As I sit here with my legs in the sun, I can’t help but think about when it happened. A day that changed me forever.

When it happened, there was such a mess to clean up physically and emotionally it was impossible. How was I supposed to deal with what had been left? What was I meant to do? The world was so dark.

But here I am. I’ve seen that the sun still rose the next day. The waves still crashed on the beach. But most importantly. My heart still beat and my lungs kept breathing even when I couldn’t. Each day it got easier to process and the mess slowly got cleaned up.
