Sometimes it may seem as if we are walking down a never-ending tunnel.
The first step into that tunnel can be the most daunting, you’re stepping out of your comfort zone and into the unknown. You can see the small glimmer of light shining through from the other side, just enough to give you hope to take that first step.
It may take you a few steps before you adapt to your new surroundings. As you walk, you may look nostalgically back at the road you are leaving behind.
It gets hard when you continue to walk, yet it feels like you're not getting anywhere, that the light isn't getting any closer. You may question your decision to have entered the tunnel in the first place, you may yearn for the sense of comfort and normality you were accustomed to. You may want to give up, but you haven’t come this far to have only come this far. You’ve got to keep going, one foot in front of the other because the only way out is through. It doesn’t matter how small the steps are as long as they are in the right direction. You may trip, you may stumble, you might even end up crawling but you DON’T STOP.
When you get to the other side (trust me, YOU WILL) you may wonder how you got through the darkness, you might start to reflect on your journey but let me tell you, every single step you took would’ve been so worth it.
Everyone’s tunnel is different. Some are shorter, some are longer, some have twists and turns. We are the only ones who can walk through our tunnels and we will all walk them differently.
As you continue your journey, sometimes you will look back and see how far you’ve come. All those steps you’ve taken have led you to where you are supposed to be. Imagine if you hadn’t entered that tunnel, or if you had given up halfway through, you would’ve never seen the beautiful view from the other side and all the places it could lead to.
Everyone’s recovery looks different. Everyone’s recovery is POSSIBLE. At times, you may feel like giving up or wishing you could go back but once you reach the light, you will be so glad that you kept going. Your journey might not be easy, there are bound to be bumps along the way but you are so strong and YOU CAN DO IT. Your light is waiting for you, so don’t give up now.
